Coroner Insists TB Joshua Testifies On Nov 5

The inquest set up by the Lagos State government to probe the recent collapse of a building belonging to the Synagogue Church Of All Nations, yesterday insisted that the senior pastor of the Church, Prophet Temitope Joshua must appear before it.

The Coroner, Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe made the order after the counsel to Joshua, Jude Nnaji (SAN) said that his client would not appear because he was not an eyewitness to the incident.

But Magistrate Komolafe insisted that TB Joshua must personally appear on November 5 to testify.

He said, “this court has summoned him, let him come and tell us what he knows. He cannot sit over there and be sending words to us that he cannot come. The court has said that for the purpose of what we are doing, he must come over.”

“He has been granting press interviews on the incident, so he cannot now turn around and say he doesn’t know anything about it. He should come here and tell the court that he doesn’t know anything about the incident. He can’t do that from his house,” the coroner asserted.

LEADERSHIP recalls that the Lagos state government on September 26, set up an inquest to investigate the incident in which 115 people, mostly of South African nationality lost their lives when the building which serves as a guest house of the church collapsed.

Joshua, who had linked the tragedy to a strange aircraft hovering above the building shortly before it fell, has also released a video allegedly showing the incident.

During Friday’s proceedings, two witnesses from the Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Musiliu Olayinka and Bamidele Wasiu respectively testified before the inquest.

Olayinka, while testifying before the court said his observation was that the building did not collapse as a result of an explosion.

The witness, who said he has 34 years’ experience in rescue operations, insisted that there was nothing to suggest that the accident occurred as a result of an explosion.

He said, “All the bodies recovered were whole and not dismembered or burnt. Also there were no scattered bricks.”
