Fanen Adi , the young Nigerian striker currently creating waves in the MLS with Portland Timbers FC might likely get a chance under the new Super Eagles handler, Amodu Shaibu to done the national colours.
Adi who has always made his intention of playing for his father land known well back was continuously snubbed by the former Eagles coach Stephen Keshi despite his impressive performance in the American major league.
The Benue born striker has 12 goals 7 assists so far having joined the Major League side mid season from FC Copenhagen of Denmark where he had four goals.
The bulky striker has a lot of experience having played for Dynamo Kiev , FC Trencin where he played in the Europa League before crossing over to FC Copenhagen .
Adi played in the EUFA Champions League last season with Copenhagen before joining his present club. This talented Nigerian is 23 years old and feels that this is the right time for his debut .
Adi, going by his track record of goals in Europe and America, is tipped for the senior national team. He made the MLS team of the week last month when he had a brace against Obafemi Martins\ Seattle. That was not the first time Adi was scoring a brace. Within the last quarter of the MLS, Adi has scored twice four times .
‘I bear no grudge with Stephen, he probably did not do his research properly about me and I believed it was a matter of time he would have looked my way.
For Amodu , I respect him a lot even though I have not met him and the time is very short I still believe I will be a good inclusion if am selected,’’ he said
