Two popular hip-hop stars, Akinmayokun Awodunmila popularly known as May D and Oluwajuwonlo James a.k.a Jaywon will thrill guests in Idanre this evening at the gala night cum closing ceremony of this year’s Ondo state organised tourism oriented Mare festival.
The festival which kicked off on Thursday with sporting events and cultural displays saw the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko commissioning the Idanre Hills Resort, witnessed by the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) Ms Sally Mbanefo among other dignitaries.
Part of the activities lined up for the day three of the event is live performances by May D and Jaywon.
Meanwhile Governor Mimiko has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan on his emergence as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election due for February next year.
In a congratulatory message to the president, Dr Mimiko said the peaceful and rancour free process leading to the emergence of the president as the candidate of the party is a pointer to his popularity and recognition of his achievements since becoming the president of the country.
Mimiko who promised that the president will win in Ondo state convincingly said “ the president has demonstrated overtime that he genuinely love this country and would do everything humanly possible to ensure that it remains an indivisible entity.”
The governor said “the time is now for Nigerians to ensure that we rally round the president to achieve his dream of a better Nigeria.
“His achievements in the area of agriculture, education, health, transportation, road rehabilitation, energy and the economy are laudable and should continue so that he can realise his dream for the country”
Governor Mimiko further said, “since it was the will of God to make the president assume office in the first place, the same God who has also ensured he wins the party’s candidature without any rancour will also ensure that he gets elected as the next president of our dear nation next year”.
