Nigeria: Mikel, Enyeama, Others Arrive, As Team Begins Training Today

SUPER Eagles handler, Stephen Keshi, and his assistants have started working out strategies to ensure the senior national team beats Congo Brazzaville comfortably in their 2015 Africa Nations Cup qualifier this weekend.

The team opened its camp in Calabar yesterday with the early arrivals taking time to get acquainted once again with the 'Canaan City.'

According to the Eagles" Media Officer, Ben Alaiya, some of the foreign-based players invited for the game have already arrived in the country, just as Coach Keshi is in constant touch with the others to ensure they arrive early in Calabar to enable him fine-tune preparations for the match.

Alaiya disclosed that Keshi's major focus is to build a formidable squad that would surmount their opponents in Calabar on Saturday, stressing that the former Togo coach is not under any form of pressure ahead of the tie.

He, however, disclosed that the Eagles will commence training in top gear this morning, as all the players invited for the game are expected to be present in Calabar today.

"Coach Keshi and his assistants arrived in Calabar on Monday to commence preparations for the Nations Cup qualifier against Congo slated for this weekend.

"The big boss has banished all forms of distractions that could hinder him from assembling a formidable squad for the qualifier. Some of the players invited for the game are already in the country.

"I cannot tell you the total number of players in camp now, but eventually Mikel, Enyeama and other of their team mates must be in camp by Tuesday .If Keshi does not have reasonable amount of players in camp on Monday evening, the Eagles will have their first full training on Tuesday morning. This is because all the players would have already been present in camp then.

"There is no pressure on the Eagles coaches. All hands are on deck to ensure the Super Eagles come out victorious in the game."

He revealed that the team will be training twice daily ahead of the game to give Keshi ample time to blend the players properly," he declared.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) Assistant Director, Media, Ademola Olajire, has said that the Congolese national team is yet to communicate to the federation their arrival time in the country.

However, a source, who pleaded anonymity, informed The Guardian yesterday that the Congolese team would arrive Nigeria either today or Wednesday from a neighboring West African country, where thy have been training for the game.
